Ethical AI & Responsible Innovation

I’m a certified Data Ethics Professional (ODI) and think carefully about what responsible AI deployment looks like in practice — from training data provenance to model transparency and societal impact. This shapes how I approach every project.

NLP & Large Language Models

I work on applied NLP and large language models for technical domains, including document processing and information extraction at scale on HPC platforms.

AI for Science

I co-initiated the Intelligent Observatory programme with the South African Astronomical Observatory, applying AI to automate and improve telescope operations.

Astrophysics

Before AI research, I studied Type Ia supernovae — thermonuclear explosions used as distance markers in cosmology. My PhD at Southampton focused on early-time light curves and what they tell us about how these stars explode.

Open Source & Software

I’ve been writing Python since my PhD. I care about well-tested, well-documented code and the tooling that makes research software sustainable.
